I am trying to burn an MP3 disc on my computer but am having a few problems. I have tried using Easy CD Creator and have also tried Cheetah, but my problem is that both programs keep rearranging to files in alphabetical order on my final disc layout. When I ripped the files from the original CDs, I had hell getting the songs to stay in the correct album order, but after messing with each one repeatedly, they are staying in the correct order. I've tried to adjust the settings on both programs, but I just can't figure this out. The disc is using several different folders with about 10-12 files in each. I'm running Win 98. ANY HELP???

If you burn them as mp3 files it really doesn't matter what order they are in. It's actually the program reading the already burned disc that determines the order. I'm not sure when they are written they are written in any order at all. But any computer/mp3 cd player will read them in whatever order it's designed to or you tell it to. Hence why u can right click and do "arrange icons by" and it will reorder everything.

? sorting alpha order ? Are you coping an existing cd which can result in sorting irregularities. Otherwise launch EZ CD, choose audio.. bla bla..... find the tracks you want (will show in upper right), DRAG and drop into bottom window (CD Layout). Anything you drag and drop here really should not change. Thought I was maybe losing my noodle so just did it and it behaves as described. Try again. I am assuming the mp3 files are on your hd but it really shouldn't matter as long as you're not attempting to do a copy function.

In order to get mp3 files to burn in the order you put them in, you will most likely have to rename your files by adding 1 2 3 in front of the file name. Otherwise, an mp3 disk is a data disk, and data is stored alphabetically or numercially when numbers precede the title. I can't remember where I read the 1 2 3 tip, but I just live with my mp3 disks in alpha order rather than rename them every time I want to make a disk. Just press random when you're tired of knowing what's coming next.

You want to 01,02,03 not 1,2,3 otherwise once you get above 10 songs in a folder you start to have problems because it would order them like this
1 10 11 12 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

This man speaks the truth. Data disks are a pain in the a$$.
Have you tried using Nero to burn? It's a much better program.

In fact u may want to use three digits 001, 002... since you can fit over 100 mp3's on one cd.

But still requires you to use the numeric system IIRC...

I was basing my assumption on that he was burning albums/CD's to cd so you owuld not have more then 99 tracks on most normal CD's and you would seperate by folders before you get to track names.
I typicaly burn like this. (each level is a folder until the last that would be a file)
Artist -> Album -> Track
