'99 Silver SVT 50k miles.

Was under the car putting on a tow bar at the weekend and found to my horror that one of the gas tank straps had rotted through and broke. The Ford dealer claims not to have heard of this before - but I can't believe I'm the only one. Might be worth a quick look under your car.....

Fixed the tank strap problem, but now in therapy following the shock at the $128 bill for a one dollar part. Geez - sure am glad I bought a domestic car to avoid those foreign car part ripoffs...!!?? Have contacted ford about my problem - I'll post their comments.

Do you have a breakdown of the charges? Did you have the dealer do the work?

Sorry, my post was confusing. The part actually cost $128 - I'm in the industry and I estimated the real cost of the strip of metal can't be more than $1. I did the repair myself.
