Thinking to put a used tranny in my 95v6,can I convert the linkage to cable from rod if I drop a cable shift tranny in my car?

Why, the rod shift is better.

It has been done but one person that did it posted that he would never try it again. There were enough changes for cable shifting that were very difficult to incorporate into the old body style.

I'm not so sure. The cable shifter has a shorter throw and overall has held up very well. It is a much better design than the cable shifter on the Taurus SHO that was later changed to a rod design. On the SHO the rod was better. On our cars I think they are about the same in durability and the cable does have a shorter throw.
