What's this about Duratec, having been made by/alike Vtec, i was told that Duratec is like Vtec's little brother, does this engine have a special history behind it? I'd like to know more about this type of engine.

The Duratec was designed and built by Cosworth and Porsche. No relation to the Vtec that I know of.

VTEC only refers to Honda's twin stage variable valve timing system. (Not the whole engine) In the early years (1993-2000 or so) the cams only had 2 profiles so the VTEC "kick" would hit at high rpms.

Nowadays, they have iVTEC which is more variable, I think on both intake and exhaust cams and it is more or less infinitely variable over a range of camshaft overlap angles. Of course, it's not truly infinite, but much more so than before.

Duratec of course is the name given to the line of engines which include the 2.5, 3.0 V6 and now the 2.3 4-banger. I believe in Europe there are more 4-cylinders that wear the "Duratec HE" designation.

Ford used to say no tune ups required for 100k miles, but every manufacturer seemed to drop that claim in the late 90s.

If I ever hear someone say that My engine is the VTEC's lil' bro, I will do two things. Sell my car, and kill myself.

The duratec has similar engine internal dimentions, the wrist pin diameter is the same, the piston CD is the same, the rod length is within a couple of thou, other than that nothing is honda about it. The engine that the 2.5,3.0l is like is the 4.6 cobra. The cam tentioners, lifters, followers, oil pump, valvesprings, retainers, valve locks are all the same, the way the engine is designed is nearly identical. So in reality the dura is the Cobra's lil bro.

Go away troll...

Your ignorance is hardly worth noting except only to let you know it is a source of amusement for us because you can't be serious...

You also are not even remotely close to correct.

Folks if you have no clue PLEASE do not post because those of us that do are going to rip you apart quite completely.
