I just got an offer for two mtx thunder dvc 12" 8000s for 130 shipped, should I get them? I've been hearing mixed review about them so I dont know. At this price I'm seriously considering it though.

I currently have 2 12" jl w0s would it be a good idea to change? I haven't heard them yet cause I'm waiting on a box. I figure I could get about $120 for them and upgrade to the mtxs.

I just want something that can knock pictures off the wall, if you know what I mean. SQ only has to be decent.

i wouldnt do it. for a little more you could find 2 w3's on ebay if you really want to upgrade. the mtx's will be louder than the w0's but you'll sacrifice some serious sound quality. I heard 2 12" 8000 in a ext cab truck and it was pretty loud. not very clean sounding at all tho. stick with jl
just my "too sense"

They don't sound bad, just put them in a medium sized sealed enclosure. No I don't think they sound good in a bandpass but that's just me. Give them plenty of clean power and it will pound and sound good. But I have heard tons of them in small to medium sealed enclosures and they sound decent, no distortion.

So these are decent to give my bass an extra boost? Do you think I should go with a jbl 600.1 or 1200.1 to power them?

I just put a 12" 8000 in my car with a MTX 8302 amp running it. If I could do it again, I'd get a 4ohm dvc and a JBL amp to run it, but I got the sub before the amp. I'm still working out the amp settings, but I'm very happy with it.

I've been thinking this over and was wondering if 2 blueprint 1202 would be better to get, the mtx's I was thinking about are refurbs and are going for 120 shipped. The retail for a lot more so I though it was a decent deal. The blueprints are $97 each with dual 2 ohm voice coils. I think my amp is going to be a jbl 1200.1 and I already got the box its sealed w/ 1.50 cF each.

So basically what is the better deal I want a lot of spl with decent sq

If you have anyother suggestions please make them, I want 2 12" subs for about 250 for both, that will give me good sq with a lot of spl. I want them to take 600rms each at 2 ohms aswell

MTX are OK if you get them for really cheap, but they're not that great. I got two mtx 12"s (I believe single voice coil) for $80 in box.

Do you already have the box? Do you plan on building your own? I suggest screwing them, and getting a single AL 1804 (blueprint 1803) 18" sub, in a large ported box. You'll have a shitload of SPL, and yet, it will sound quite nice.

Oh.. it's $260 shipped. 6L of linear displacement.

I would've suggested the Stryke AV's, but they're no longer on sale for $140 each.. they're $175 each. A few CEG members, along with myself will agree that these sound awsome, and can get extremely loud.

yea I already got the box, do you think one stryke with 600 rms going to it will sound louder and better then the 2 mtx 8000s? I could sell the box with my current two 12's and buy a ported box, jbl 600 and a av...

one quality sub versus 2 mediocre ones, thats the question
