This hesitation seems to be a returning problem that was solved once before by having the plug wires replaced (50,000 km ago). Before I bring the car in to a shop to do that, is there anything else anyone can think of what this could be? I replaced my fuel filter, but that didn't fix it. It doesn't seem to happen outside the 2000-3000 RPM range.

I had the same problem on mine and it turned out that the secondaries were stuck open. I'd suggest checking their postion with the engine running. Mine was a fault in the vacuum system where yours will have to do with the IMRC and therefore may not be able to get stuck open. I'm not entirely sure how that works. It is worth looking into though.

Sounds like it's time for new plugs and wires again.

Make sure they install high quality parts.
