Got another Kenwood 10" sub. 600 watt max power. The RMS is 150watts.
So if I have two of them the minimum I amp I want to get is 400watts, bare minimum. I'm thinking of getting a 700, or 800 watt max power amp.

Addition:
The guy at Best Buy where I got that from said I dont need a cap. Do you think he is correct?
Also lets say during the summer at night time I have the A/C full blast, windshield washers light ups on, neons inside on, car lights on, and the stereo with amp and all on, would that strain that system like cause damage to alt. or battery?
By the way should I upgrade to a Optima battery when this one dies, those run about $120, do those better handle amps and stuff?

you can run everything but the washer nosel LED's. those things are death traps (too much amp draw)! Back in Grand Haven a kid turned his on in the highschool parking lot, blew up his car and both of his FnF ricer buddies parked next to him. Beware of the LED washer nosels!! just too much cool for the contour I guess.
anyways, you already went with cheap speakers(not price, quality), so you might as well go with a cheap best buy amp. the reason the guy said you dont need a cap is likely because none of their over-rated amplifiers can draw enough current for you to need one.

You should look around for the most expensive amp you can find. With that new job coming up, you'll have plenty of extra money. Why settle for 800 watts when you could have 1600? This beauty is more than enough for those subs, and a steal for only 50 bones.

Save your cash. Caps are worthless as they only ADD to your current draw! Buy a high output alternor with your hard earned money. As for an amp... A JBL BP300.1 would mate well with those Kenwoods.

NO, you don't need a high output alternator as the contour allready has a very powerful one. I'm running 600 watts rms total and adding a cap helped my dimming light problem. First make sure your battery is in good shape and be sure all your grounds are good.

Kenwood Subs from Best Buy? You gotta be kidding. I'm no audio genious by any means but those things sound horrible! Even the 12's sound bad. Maybe thats why I saw 12" Kenwood subs on sale for $30. Oh well...

How about, get neither, and just upgrade your stock power/ground cables? Save yourself a lot more money, and it'll solve your dimming problems. As for me, I ran well over 1600wrms with no problems.
