I popped a tire the other day on my 17" SVT wheel and I needed to get some tires. I was curious to know if a 205/50-17 was too narrow to fit on the rim. Because they don't seem that wide, but they are BFG g-force T/A KDW-2s and they have perfect tread. And for 500 dollars rather than 680 new, I wouldn't mind getting them especially since the kid will take payments. My other option was a Bridgestone Venturi I think they were for 350 but they have about 100 miles, but I'm not sure what size they were. I think they didn't have as low of a profile.

205?
Try 215/45-17 or 225/45-17.

205/50/17 will fit. A bit skinny but it will fit. If you need new tires, then check with www.tires.com or www.tirerack.comBoth excellent sites that I have personally used, lots of good choices in the sub $100 price range.

I ran on 205/45/17's for a little over a year. They are rough! Just thinking about 'em makes my back hurt. I run 225/45/17 Kumho Ecsta ASX's right now. ~$350 shipped from Tire Rack. Check back a couple weeks, I wrote a real long review of 'em.
