i am looking into getting a new car within the next 2 months. I am looking to stay around the $35k mark and do want something new. Right now I am considering the new Acura TL and the new Infiniti G35 Sedan. I also thought about volvo s60, but think I am leaning towards one of the other two. Just curious as to everyone's opinions or if there are other cars that match up to these 3 in size, quality, performance, and looks/luxury that I should consider.... (i do need 4 doors)
Thanks for your input.
I will be keeping the svt as well in case anyone is curious...

Only the Auto trans is offered in the X, he might want a manual trans
Car&Driver just did a shootout of this same class. G35 - 1st 325 - 2nd TL - 3rd A4 - 4th 9-3 - 5th X-Type 3.0 - 6th
The Jag looks the best IMO, but the powertrain just doesnt live up to the price/looks. G35 is the winner for me as its roomy, good sized trunk, and the Aero package makes it look pretty damn good too.
TL - Front Wheel Drive, 270HP, and Torque Steer!

Would $35k get you into a left over E39 ?? Probably not but just something to consider.

There is no S package in the 2004 TL. The performance package is called A-Spec, and you can do better picking the pieces you want yourself and leaving the rest (so you aren't paying for 18" wheels).
By far the best in the upscale category. It's fast, handles tight (even without A-Spec suspension and performance tires), and yet makes you feel like you moved up in the world. The BMW has a low-rent interior, the G35 looks old-lady inside and neither drive as well. The torque steer people complain about is not intrusive, just a slight tugging which is easliy ignored.
If I have the money, the TL is no contest. The only flaw is the lack of a folding rear seat.
If you must have AWD, the Audi A4 3.0 is a second place choice.
