hmm why did you put the tweeters behind you?
i would put them in the front door panel somewhere it should give you better imaging. as for the distortion, do you have the tweeters hooked up to the crossovers correctly there should at least be a capacitor in line with the positive lead if your components and sub are connected to the same amp check your crossover settings on the amp. if its a 4 channel w xover for front and rear set your front channels on the components high pass no lower than 100Hz. if your running tri mode w/ a 2 channel amp youll need passive xovers for all your speakers and set you amp for full range. what kind of amp are you using? 2/4 channel?

Is the same amp powering all your speakers?

The first thing that pops into my head is that the sub is sucking too much juice from the amps power supply and ends up making the front speakers distort.

Yeah, I agree with dnewma04.

Sound like you have a power surge problem.

Still, it should image better with the tweeters mounted elsewhere.

After some careful considreation, I think I have a solution that might help. Did you try pouring juice on the amplifier? Sometimes amplifiers need a some juice because at thier age, they need it to stay healthy and strong. Seriously though, are you sure the amp is getting enough power? You should be running 4 guage wire from the battery and maybe even have a cap (1 farad). Is your battery good? The Motorcrap battery that came with my car was no good, it put out low voltage even when fully charged so I replaced it with a Canadian Tire battery which, although less expensive, worked much better. All of a sudden my car started easier and the stereo sounded better. At low voltage, your amp won't put out as much power as it's rated at. This is just a guess but it might be worth looking into. Don't pour juice on your amp though, I was kidding about that...
