I am replacing the timing belt this week, but i have been told that i should also replace the tensioner pulleys, I don't know if they are bad or not, should i replace the pulleys anyway.

So you have the zetec engine then right? You have two schools of thought. #1 if it ain't broke...... But then again if the parts are not that exspensie then bu all means do it and the water pump while you are in there. Preventative matenince rarely is a bad thing. Now if you have the V6 you don't have timing belts but rather chains and it is a common beleif that they don't need to be replaced. At least not every 100000kms.

Thats because you have an ironman SVT engine. Really it shouldn't be needed to change the chain. Some may want to though if it gets noisy just as a preventative measure.

The timing belt is just loose, so i thought it would be a good ideal to change since you have to tear everything apart just to tightened it,Now i hear that you have to change the pulleys as well.

I was having my problems with my car, we decided to look at the chains to make sure all was ok, just a precaution at 100,000km.
When we looked at them, the guides all were broken.
4 guides $80.00ea, while there we decided to change the chains $100.00 ea.
The only way to get the chains on/off is to remove the camshafts.
