i just picked up a set of FSVT rims. i got them from a buddy of mine who's selling his CSVT. anyway, 2 of the tires were fine, one was popped and the other didn't have much tred left. so i bought 2 replacement tires and had them installed at pepboys (big mistake). so i needed them to mount and balance 2 tires, balance the other 2 wheels and then install all 4 wheels. well they told me that it'd take an hour and a half (45 mins till someone could get to my car, and then 45 mins for the job). THREE hours later i got my car. absolutely rediculous. they gave me no reason either. i complained to the manager on duty and they gave me a whole 10% off. which basicly paid for my tax....

that was the set up story. but now, driving around, i start to feel a vibration once i hit around 50mph and it stays (and even gets worse) up to about 60mph. it's almost like a wobble. once i get past 60 or so, it goes away. but then i almost hear a "hollow" humming noise comming from the rear passanger side tire. i'm guessing that maybe they didn't balance the tires right, or even worse, didn't torque the lug nuts to spec. well i went out yesterday just to see if the lug nuts were tight enough. they all seemed tight except for one on the passanger side front wheel. it loosened up without any effort. so i tightened them best i could with my tire iron and the vibration is still there. what might this be? i think i'm gonna take the car back in tomorrow but because of their [censored] service i'm affraid they're just gonna look at it and say nothin is wrong. what do you guys think?

If your steering wheel shakes at high speeds it means you need a wheel balance. Mine does it to at like 65-85, I know it needs one but am waiting till it needs a roataion.

Anyways I would take it back and say you want it rebalanced.

Secondly Pep Boys does NOT use torque wrenchs to tighten lug nuts, I have seem just use an impact gun and get it tight and send the car on its way.

If you want them torqued correctly you will have to it yourself, you can rent the tool for Autozone for a $15 deposit I believe and then return it and get your money back.

just got back from costco's tire shop (i used to work at costco so i knew they'd balance them right). 3 of the wheels were out of balance. one was extremely bad. they did it right and now the car drives smooth as can be. moral of the story, never every go back to pepboys
