Well I guess there are non-SVT brake pads on my SVT. Has antone else had this happen to them. I hope the rotors are the same cause I dont want to have to take them back too.

well, unless your SVT is a early 98 model, thats the way it came. They changed the capiper design for just the early 98 SVT's, after that they went back to the same calipers as non SVT's, just used a bracket to push them out over the larger rotors.

I doubt your rotors are wrong, you would definately notice the smaller rotor and nearly half if not more of the pad touching nothing but air!

I ran into this when I replaced pads. I ordered Green Stuff pads from TireRack and they send the wrong ones. They didn't seem to know about the different sizes until I told them. It all depends when the car was manufactured. I think after 5/99 the caliper is the same size but the pad is smaller (what's up with that?). That's the "problem".

Actually, the E0's have different calipers AND pads.
Most E1's (after 98.5) have the old syle pre-SVT caliper but the larger brackets.

So they use the old style pads, but have the larger rotors.

As for Green Stuffs, send those pieces of crap back. I used those and they suck. More dust than stuck, prone to causing rotors warp, and the friction material has a tendency to unglue itself from the backing plates!

Not to blow my own trumpet, but the Bendix TitaniuMetallics I offer, or the *NEW* Bendix PErformance Ceramics will blow those overpriced pieces of crap out of the water!

PM me if you want pads, but you need to do it TODAY as I leave for Australia for a 3 week vacation on the 26th, Friday so I would need to receive payment from you and shipp by Thursday.

Why are you still asking about pads? I thought we pointed you in the right direction with your plug wire post.

Yeah when I got the pads they didn't fit. SOooo I was wondering if my car was wack or this is something that changed half way through the year or what. I am a girl and not very machanically incline, but am doing the best I can with the resources I know.... besides all the car guys I know, know nothing about my car. Including what size things should be. Just tryin to find out whether the shop gave me the wrong ones or not.
