I know this is a loaded question. I'm looking for a 10" sub to be put in a single 10" sealed enclosure.

Other than price, my #1 priority is sound quality (accurate, tight, etc.).

Let the recommendations fly!

I am not sure if these are the best but I got 2 Sony Explod subs that I got on sale for $40 a piece. I got em at a wherehouse type stereo shop (the ones who don't put prices on any of their products). They hit very hard and now I got trunk rattles to deal with, lol...

How big is the box, and how many watts?

Well, I don't have the box or amp yet, but, the box will be small (.65-1.0) and I'll probably push the sub with 150 to 180 watts rms (no more than 200).

I guess I should have been more specific earlier.

You're gonna need something relatively efficient. If you can find a diamondplate Pioneer (last years model), that should work great. Model# should be 253C.

I found a 254c (this years model?) for $69.95. How are the Pioneer subs?--I'm pretty happy with the component set I have.

I was looking at the Pioneer, MTX 6104 (I found for $66.00),an Audiobahn AWC10 ($69.99), and a JBL GT 1041. I have only heard the MTX from the ones listed above--for some reason, I like the JBL's numbers, but I'm open for suggestions.

Again, my goal is sound quality and clean, tight bass.

Any other words of wisdom is appreciated.

You may want to consider the Avalon LE10. One of the car audio mags rated it as the best 10" they hear under 150.00 but you can find it on ebay occasionally for less than 60.00.
