OP PeterM CEG\'er P Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 140 Calgary	98 SE ATX with ATX cooler and annual fluid flush. Would a Superchip have a negative affect on the lifespan of my transmission? Not sure if this post should be in Performance or Transaxle so my apologies if in the wrong catagory. Thanks.

The shift points are at a slightly higer RPM with the chip, but they are also quicker & slightly more crisp. I have one with my ATX & I am quite pleased with it. It took a little getting used to, but when I'm having fun with some spirited driving, it is well worth it IMHO. Firmer shifts = less clutch slip = less wear on the tranny clutch packs. That's how I see it, and the tranny experts will soon chime in and give you a definative answer. Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

What helped the most was the Y-pipe mod & replacing the stock resonator with a glass pack. An extra 2 mpg out of those. My next plan is to put a straight through muffler at the stock resonator position & move the glass pack to the stock muffler spot. If that doesn't give me the sound I'm looking for, I'll put a Flowmaster 40 as a muffler. That oughta kick butt. Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
