What did you have in mind? Cold, windswept desolation overlooking Lake Superior? Missing the good old days of dead alewifes washing up at Warren Dunes Michigan, while you're all bundled up?
You've got bunches of state parks close by. But did you want reliably warm weather too for a spring break?

I stopped by there early last summer while interning for the State Historic Preservation Office and I thought it was pretty gorgeous. Great trails to hike around, just watch out for the gargantuan homes on wheels!

Or the truck that drove through the guard station at the entrance. It's in a different spot than it used to be.

Indiana Dunes is pretty cool, the Great Bear (i think?) dunes up by Traverse City are pretty cool too.

That's Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. I had a week-long class in the area this past summer. Lots of wineries to visit if that's your thing, beautiful just to drive around. You have to try a Plevalean(sp?) burger at Dick's Poor House in Leelanau, they're really good, plus they're made with cherries. Oh, when I was there this summer I ran into Mario Batali from Food TV there and got his autograph!
That may not happen to everyone who visits there, though.

I should've mentioned this, but I need to go south to get away from this weather. I was thinking someplace like tennessee, georgia, etc...the further south the better. Just not anything further than 800 miles, I'm not sure if the 'tour can handle it.
