Hello,

Quick question in regards to the right side mirror. I accidentally broke it off backing out of my garage and am interested in buy the whole assembly but not sure how to get that plastic body off the actual mirror. There are 3 screws (2 on the bottom of mirror and one on the inside) that actually makes this housing loose but the mirrior would need to come off as well and not sure how to do that. Have looked at it quite a bit and can't figure it out. Maybe its not supposed to but if it has those 3 screws on their you would think there is a way to take it off. Thought I could then purchase what ever assembly/color is available and replace it with this one that matches my car. Hope this makes sense. Also does anyone no how to get that plactic cover off on the inside of the car that covers all the internal mounting hardware of the mirror? Tried and it feels like I am going ot break it off if I force it anymore. Anyfeed back on any of this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is different for a 98+, but for a Pre 98 all you needed to do was:

  • Remove the plastic cap covering the one Philips head screw. Once you take out that screw, you can remove the inside cover.

  • Disconnect the wiring harness

  • Then remove 3 Torx (T-25) screws from the inside to remove the side mirror, and you're done!

Takes only about 15 minutes.

go to the dollar stores and buy a set of mini jewelers screw driver.. you gonna need them to pull up the plastic plugs that are over the screw holes in the triangular piece in the inside to get to the screws that are conected to the outside mirror..... you gonna see the screw head.. then go to sears and buy a set of Torx screw drivers (i think they come about 4-5 craftsman ones for about $19.95.. you gonna need them all someday when you want to change the oil and have to remove the torx screws under the front under of car to get to the oil filter or to drain the radiator........
