I'm not sure if this is different for a 98+, but for a Pre 98 all you needed to do was:
- Remove the plastic cap covering the one Philips head screw. Once you take out that screw, you can remove the inside cover.
- Disconnect the wiring harness
- Then remove 3 Torx (T-25) screws from the inside to remove the side mirror, and you're done!
Takes only about 15 minutes.
