Anyone know of a source for rear subframes? Mine is hosed, courtesy of a completely mangled sway bar mount point. I checked fordpartsonline and they offer them for ~$150, but I'm sure I could get a used one for less than that.
On a related note, is TH still offering the backing plates so I can mod a new subframe and avoid tearing off the mount point again?

Why get a new subframe when all you neeed is to fix the sway bar mounts? I cut mine completely off and made beefier mounts. Much cheaper then a new subframe.

The backing plates didn't really work all that well, but TH does offer boxed in SF's on an exchange. Last I heard, a used SF was around $80, and TH charged about $80 for the work. Then you've got shipping.
Or, you could educate a local shop and save some money.

So you're saying that with $80 "core charge", it boils down to $80 + freight?

I'm getting a new SF soon. . .too much rattle and play, figured I'd have him do it right. . .he didn't mention anything on the core, I just bought a new one and am having it rust-proof painted, etc.
You COULD have a local shop do it, but I've learned a couple of things about our cars and CEG. . .
IF YOU CAN, send it to Terry for MTX75/SF stuff, to Rick and all for engine work (Jesse for heads), and to SF for tc'ing. . .a local shop CAN do it, but will they do it right?

Check with him on that. I found the old email, and he didn't mention a core.

I did this as well. 1/4" angle. Its funny when you rip the brackets off the car enough times, you just get pissed and do it overkill.
FWIW, I checked on car-part.com awhile ago when I was looking into rear discs. There was an ENTIRE SVT subframe in Texas for $220. Disc to disc, calipers included. Granted this was like a year or so ago, but keep looking if you *must* replace it.
