I am real close to getting a 99 SVT. This car, from the factory did not get the factory spoiler/wing - whatever ya want to call it. I like it, and I have seen a few on E_Bay for sale. My buddy that actually is an engineer at SVT thinks the spoilers are crappy looking. If I get this car, I want to add the small factory spoiler, but he thinks it's to "boy-racer" looking.
What do you guys think?

I wouldnt get it. I saw my car after being painted without the Wings West spoiler on it and kinda liked it. There were already holes to put it back on though so i did.

I like the spoiler. What I want to know is, if your brother is an engineer for Ford's SVT, what kind of insider info can you get us. Or, can you have him talk to the exec's up there and inform them of this site. They market stuff to us... maybe.

the contour does look good without a spoiler but if you have one the factory one looks best out off all the ones people have posted over the years

Not my brother, my BUDDY works at SVT. As far as "inside" information, he has told me a few things that were pretty cool but nothing too secret. He has a really great job so he really doesnâ??t do much to jeopardize that. He has brought home just about every fast Ford car that you can think of over the years that we have been friends. In fact, I got to ride in a prototype version of the current supercharged Mustang 2 years before the first story of it even leaked out to the press! He drove some of the 1 off hand built Mustangs that you have all seen in the magazines. He worked in the Bullitt program, and now he's been put on the GT (or as some people still call it the GT40) program. I can't wait until he pulls up in my driveway in one of those!
By the way, most all of the SVTC owners at SVT/Ford do know about this site. My buddy was telling me that there is a bunch of Contour SVT owners that use this site, in fact that is how I found out about it.

Just an FYI, there's already an SVT engineer on this site. He's an admin, too

Good to know. Can he get me a hook up on a new Lightning in about 2 years once I graduate? j/k. But it would be sweet. Even if I know SVT's plans for the next few years so I can decide on a model year. Wait for the better one if you will.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the spoiler... remember when the SVT first came out one of the execs actually said he was proud of the fact that they didn't install an "unnecessary" spoiler. That said, though, there are a couple of guys running pre-'98 trunks with the pre-'98 spoiler on their SVT's, and those do look pretty cool.

I wouldn't get your wing either...A factory spolier looks great IMO...I put one on my E0 after I bought it, and it improved the look tremedously, to me. No offense to those without...Some like it some don't, ask yourself how you feel. It is unneccesary, but, it is more for aesthetics than performance, obviously.
