Wow, never thought saying something is probable cause=anti-cop, but I guess an IDIOT could interpret it as that. Anyways, I've heard straight from cops that speeding is probable cause, I've also heard the numerous other things they could say to have "probable cause" to search a vehicle. I don't have a problem with searches, because I'm not anti-police officers,,,, now if I don't like one certain officer, that's just that officer,,,, but you would never understand it though I've spelled it out for you multiple times.

From my expierences of speeding and getting pulled over. I have had numerous times, I have been searched, or tested to be drunk, come on now, I am only 20, got 5 more months! Okay, so, my point is, the officer wasn't pulling you over for speeding. He was pulling you over to see if he could find other things. You were a perfect target. He probably felt stupid because he found absolutly nothing. and the fact that you passed him. my 2 cents he didn't have his radar gun on. So he couldn't write an accurate speed. He [censored] about the tint because he couldn't find nothing to right you up. If a cop ever writes you a ticket without radaring you and you know he didn't fight the ticket, it will get dropped. But, now he made you feel special by not slapping you with a major speeding ticket. He knows you probably won't fight it. And he will meet quota. It was never about you speeding. its about his quota and what he can find. He found nothing. so he got you with something stupid to justify the pull over. Cops can be dicks. And being on your best behavior is always a must. Don't try to be all sad because you got a ticket. They just try to get you on your way quicker, that usually means you still get a ticket.

Just trying to help you understand. Speeding is not probably cause to search your vehicle. If an officer told you otherwise, he needs to check himself. And sure, any officer can "say" anything in order to believe he has probably cause. Doesn't make it right, though.

Yes, any idiot would read what you say to be anti-cop, because it is so blatently anti-cop. I would have thought that someone that has written 10,000+ posts in 2 years would be able to come up with something better than that....
I don't care what your "cop" (mall security maybe?) friends have told you. Not only have I be taught about probable cause from an officer whose job it is to find drugs all day (reading into this, finding probable cause when he needs it) But I have about 21 college credit hours worth of criminal justice classes to date, in addition to the ones I am in right now, and the classes for my major. Whichever cop told you that speeding gives the cop probable cause to search and NOT ask permission, has probably had a whole lot of cases thrown out in court (unless of course where you live the judge is kin to all the police force.)

What he said^. Kremi I have 2 people in the family on the force and can tell you for sure that speeding IS NOT PROBABALE CAUSE to search the vehicle. Now if you let yourself get talked into a search of the vehicle becuase you were intimdated by the police officer than that is your fault. But please, don't post uninformed opinions on a thread if you are going on what you think. Unless a teenage opinion is asked for.

You're pretty lucky. I got pulled over (100 in a 55) had to sign a $2k Ibond and go to court. $300 later, lawyer with me, he got me down to a $95 ticket and 4 hours of driving school.....gotta slow down....

Well I've had my vehicle searched twice with no probable cause and no consent after I had broken NO laws. But hey how can you argue with a gun? Not to mention if it ever went to court or something, he just says judge I smelled marijuana in the car. And that's it. A cop can do whatever he wants at the time and you can't argue. Not that all or any of them will, but it happens. Would I be suprised if someone got searched for speeding probable cause or not? Nope

Well as far as what many officers DO, speeding is probable cause... so to me it's probable cause. Regardless of whether it is SUPPOSED to be or not... And a friend of mine was searched one day because he "matched the description",,, his truck is the only one in town with its paint job (stock, but still only one in town with its color combo) and he was searched.. So they can say anything they want. He didn't consent and made them get a warrant first, which took like an hour. In any case, you can be searched any time for any "reason", if you don't give consent they can get a warrant if they really feel like it.
