thinking about buying a 1996 contour 4 cylinder. are these cars fast?

5 speed or automatic? The 5 speed zetec really isnt all that bad. iirc, it can beat or be just as fast as the 2.5L automatic. The 2.0L automatic...hold on to your butts, its not going anywhere!

they're definitely not fast, but i really dont think my atx zetec is bad at all. the atx zetec powers it adequately, and the car is still loads of fun to drive. and i assume the 5 spd would be ever funner

is that even a word??? I do have to agree, if I had known they made these things in a manual at the time, I would have searched for one.

Yes the 5 speed is pretty peppy. I can keep up with ATX V6's. Now my 5 speed V6 on the other hand.

I've enjoyed mine for many years without any mods, and its even more fun with the meager mods I have on it now. I definately want more cylinders on my next car though--my advice is to get however many cylinders you can afford in car payments, insurance, etc.
