FWIW, you should post this on the Fla. group forum. Insurance costs in another state are interesting, but not really relevant. My insurance dropped $600/year when I moved to NJ from NY. And NJ is one the highest insurance states. Not only the state is relevant, but even where in the state you are located.

In NY, the same car can run from $200/year (Northern, rural area) to $2500/year (NY City) just on your address.

I agree. I would be willing to bet had I insured my car in New Mexico, where I used to live, the insurance rates would be high because VW Jetta's are one of the most stolen vehicles along the border.

1 Accident (When I was 18)
0 Points
$127/month with State Farm (Jumped up to $133/month effective in May because they raised their rates)

When I first got my Contour, I had Progressive and they wanted $227/month! Before then, for a 1987 Cavalier wagon, I was paying more for just liability than I pay now for full coverage on my 'Tour!

As I meander through, I thought I would add this to the insurance thread...was sort of surprised it didn't come up before...

Within each state, not all counties are created equally in terms of insurance. Generally your metro areas are the worst, followed by the contiguous counties and the cheaper rates are usally found in BFE.

And, of course, we all know that the insurance companies look at the statistics more often than the specific driver, which means that the younger guys will get screwed moreso than an older female when it comes to pricing. Another thing, though, is that many companies are looking at the credit histories of drivers...still haven't figured out WHAT that has to do with my ability to keep a car out of a claims file.

Oh, and FWIW, the quote I was given on the vehicle I posted about in the earlier thread would be just under $400 every 6 months (~395). 30+ F with clear history for the period they look at...

27, `99 Contour SE. Approx. 12 tickets in last 10 years, pay $83 per month for the Contour, an `87 Honda Accord (that only runs when it feels like it). I live in Metro Kansas City area. And my deductables are low (0 comp, $100 collision). OH YEAH, and I am married.

no speeding tickets for over a year.
One accident 3 days after turing 16.
I pay about 40 bucks a month liability on my 1989 Delta. It's about 65 a month full coverage on the SVT Contour. I think my deductable is 250. But I'm not sure??????????
