considering a purchase of a contour with seized motor. body and interior is good. thinking bout converting it to race, like british touring car style, mondeo, (roll cage, fuel cell, gutted interior, race seats, race motor, etc. its a big project, not sure if it will be worth it. prolly go with a zetec buildup.

is it even worth it? this would be good for open day races at tracks all over.

How to make a small fortune at racing? Start with a LARGE fortune..

I think you would be wasting your money and time. The car would not be competitive with today's vehicles. If you are seriously considering racing, "open track days" aren't real racing but practice days.

But, you can have a lot of fun with Mazda miata (sp?)cars for relativity little investment. They are fast and fun to drive.

Also, you will need to get your racing "drivers license" if you are seriously wanting to race. This isn't an inexpensive investment either..

Just some things I've learned being a member of the SCCA.. They may not apply to all racing organizations..

Go with a Spec Miata, they are for the weekend warrior on a budget. Takes $15K to be seriously competitive but for $10K you will be doing fine. $5K difference is a new built trans and engine.
