Any tips on a seat replacement? I've got a bad hip and my CSVT seat is really killing me. So rather than trade my baby in for an Olds, can I get a suggestion?

What you want is an aftermarket touring seat instead of a racing seat. Take a look at Recaro's Trend and Style models. I have a Style in my CSVT, and I love it. Firm without being harsh, big enough so you can move around. You don't slide around, so there's a lot of support while driving "with spirit". They're not cheap, but I got a dealer demo seat for less than $300.00

With your hip problem, what are you looking for in a new seat? Something less confining, without side bolsters, or wider and comfier in general? I'm presuming you aren't wanting anything confining like a racing style seat. Would a standard Contour bucket seat, which should be a drop-in replacement work better for you?

I need a flat seat. The side portions of the current seat really put alot of pressure on my hip joint. I'll check out Recaro, any other tips?

i would suggest the regualr contour seats, the bolsters are allot smaller and less firm, good luck!

As in the 98-00. They are the worse of any contours. You can use the 95-97 but they are more bolstered.

I'd suggest trying sitting in some of the Contour regular bucket seats and seeing if they feel better to you. You might even find somebody willing to swap their regular seats for your SVT seats. I think Recaro and other sport seats would be just as confining as the SVT seats you currently have, if not even worse.

What you NEED to find are seats from the 95-97 LX models. 8-way power, wide, fairly flat, very comfortable and cushy, not very bolstered. I'm a big guy, and I LOVE the seats in my '95LX.

Recaro makes a seat called the Ortho, which is designed to help problems like yours. They pop up on Ebay sometimes.

If you are toward lengthy in stature, DO NOT get a "regular" Contour seat! For around-town-get-there-soon driving, they're ok. For long distance driving, the seat bottom (1) does not provide good leg support & (2) feels like a plywood board after a while.

I'm too cheap for a custom seat & use a pad for leg support for extended trips......my $.02......
