I've started having shifting problems and wanted to pick everyone's brains as to what all could be wrong with my mtx-75.

When I purchased my '99 SVT the summer of 2002 it had 43,000 miles on it. It ran well, but eventually, I felt it could use a tranny flush. I flushed with the cocktail of Mobil1 ATF and FM in Feb of 2003. After that, I noticed only a slight improvement, but was pleased to have fresh juice in the trans.

But then, the more I read, MTL was the way to go over the cocktail, so in December of 2003 I flushed the trans again with Redline MTL.

This flush exposed the problems with my tranny. Up to this point, there were no real trouble spots shifting, no gear had any real grinding or difficulty engaging.

So now with the MTL, it is impossible to get in to second gear when cold. Overall, I still believe MTL is the way to go. The feel is more "transparent" The shifter moves more freely and every motion of all the gears and syncros is transmitted thru the shifter to my hand. I do my best to let the trans warm up, but even then, second gear can be somewhat difficult to get in to. All other gears 1, 3, 4, 5 and R can be a little "notchy" 1st gear sometimes requiring the clutch to be let out and pressed again, but all are mostly ok then once warmed up. The recent warm days have eliminated some of the problem, but second gear is still very difficult. But not third, which is where most people have issues.

Whats the damage and what needs to be replaced? I'll give you my thoughts, then please give me yours. The more I read, it may actually be the shifter forks, specifically the 1-2 fork. And the MTL has exposed previous transmission damage. But if the trans is cracked open, replacing the forks, syncros, and a few other items all at once would make sense, wouldn't it? Hopefully my description has helped you guys make an educated recommendation. Thanks in advance.

By the way, I currently have 50,500 miles on the car. I know someone out there can diagnose my problem. I would really appreciate some comments.
