I pulled on the interior hood release lever and it does not make the usual clunk noise, and it pulls up very easily (usually it moved a bit, then required a hard tug to get the clunk).
I can't get my hood open at all, i tried going through the oval, and pressing down on the lever at the front with a screwdriver then pulling on the hood, but that didnt work either.
Can somebody please help me out...
Thanks

Above the oval is a rubber seal that seals the hood to the oval. Take a screwdriver and push down on rubber. Then spray hood mechanism liberally with PB Blaster. Then take said screwdriver and push against lever that pops hood. It should release.
If your dash hood release cable has snapped, you should be able to see where it attaches on that hood release latch. Push down on that rubber seal, and with a small flashlight, take a look. You may have to use the screwdriver to push/pull that part 1st, then the small lever.

Its a great spray lubricant. I have found it to work the best. Some others use Berrymans B-12...But I think PB Blaster is the stuff.
I got mine at Auto-Zone.

Is this the same thing as WD-40?

Yeah, tho WD-40 is really a poor choice. It stands for Water Displacement formula #40. There are better lubes, and the 2 I mentioned are way better. Ask anyone who's done their own suspension (like me)...the 2 listed are great.

I had this problem on my wife's car, turns out a combination of lubricants I've tried in the past actually gummed up the release mechanism. I fixed it by spraying some engine degreaser in there to clean it out real good. That allowed the hood to release and open. Then I rinsed the rest of the de-greaser out of there with a garden hose. Next, use a good lubricant, and spray it on the latch mechanism so its all nice and slick. Worked for me.

mine stopped working, it was due to a rusty latch. i ended up taking out the grille, and saturating it with lubricant, and letting it sit til it freed up. also, the cable popped out of it's mount, in the handle area, i think i had to bend the bracket to make it hold the cable again. this car is a real piece of work.
