I finally took the factory CD player in for warranty last week. The CD player would skip, eat CDs and not eject, or eject when it felt like it in the middle of a track. The power antenna also went up regardless of whether the radio was on or not.
So later on that afternoon, I get a call back from the dealership (I took it to a different dealership than where I bought the car). He says "ummm, we have a problem here. You have an obsolete radio in your car which shouldn't be in there". This pissed me off to no end because I got this CD player as a dealer install for a ridiculous amount of $350, and if that wasn't enough they had to cheat me even more. ARGH!
Does anyone know the part number or the model year CD player that should be in a 2000 SVT? The dealership told me that the one that I have is a 1996 HU.
The only entertaining part of this whole ordeal - I told the service manager about the antenna problem (read above) and this is what he wrote as the problem description:
"power antenna goes up all by itself"
At least that was worth a good laugh.
