That's quite slow for a V6.
Comparatively the V6 in my Mazda6 can run 0-60 50% faster -- in about 6.3s. Granted, it's a 3.0L V6 not a 2.5L V6, but it is still a very comparable Ford engine.
Even the tiny 2.3L ATX version of the Mazda6 can run 0-60 in 8.2s

I'm not sure where I pulled that 6.3 number outta my ass from.

The 6 V6 5 speed, I've tested with the CD player to measure times. (all be it kinda not accurate, but it is close) The time I got was mid to high 6's. The auto 2.5's are slow, but not that slow. My moms car is a 2.5 Mistique, and I say it gets to 60 in a little over 8 seconds

Motor Trend used to list the MTX V6 Cougar at 8 seconds flat, Contour should be comparable. I'd guess a full extra second for ATX would be about right.

Best measured 0-60 for my old Contour, that was pretty quick, was about 2 weeks before I traded her in. That was at 7.3 seconds. Measured through the APEXi, the going back through and counting the bars through the record process.

I pulled an average of 8.2 off my Gtech last fall. That's with 3 runs each way on the same stretch of road, and throwing out the best and worst times.
Function before fashion.
