Does anyone out there have an Alpine 7863? Are you happy with it? Any problems? Does the lighted display dim with the dash lights at night? Do the power meters turn off? I'd like to upgrade and this seems like a nice unit for not alot of money.
Cheers, Rick.

I think this is a very good HU. I believe it has one of the better internal amps on the market. can't answer your dimming question. You may want to check out the alpine site.

I don't think you would ever need to quesiton the quality of an alpine. unless something drastic happens they will alway be among the top 3 HU available.

I have a CDA-7863. It is a great deck. As for the 7864, it puts out 60x4, which is the same as my deck, but the 7864 is blue. kcobra is thinking of the 7862, which looks identical to the 7863, but only has a 45x4 amp. If you are looking at Alpines, you may want to wait until april. The new models will be out (CDA-787?) . The new ones look better, have 3 4volt outputs, and have a newer cleaner amplifier type. I just sold my CDA-7863 and will buy a new Alpine in april. I highly recommend Alpine to anybody, I've never had problems with thier decks.

I also have the 7863 and its the best deck that Circuit City has in stock. I like mine very much. The best part is the fact that it has the high-pass and low-pass controls. It allows you to tune your system pretty well.
