ive got 2 jlw3 12" 4ohm subs that are rated at 250w rms each. im looking at an amp to power these. im considering the jbl bp.600
class D which is rated 600x1 @ 2ohm it has a 12db bass boost and a 12db low pass x over. im also looking at the mtx thunder 500 class D which is rated @ 500x1 rms 2ohm it has an 18db bass boost and 24db low pass x over.
the circuit city near me has the JBL for $399 and the MTX for $499. any opinions on these two? or a reccomendation on a comparable amp?
thanks
David

My son - 72 slammed Chevy PU with airbag susp- and his buddies all with show quality vehicles, to a man, think that MTX is an inferior product. The prefer high end Infinity stuff and Kenwood or Alpine .. but won't go near MTX. I am not sure if this qualifies as a recommendation...but they all have some major mutli amp systems in their trucks/cars ..just thought I'd pass it on jj

I would agree when it comes to speakers. But amplifiers are a different story. I think that they are one of the best values on the market. Not that I have anything against the JBL amps. They are both fine amps for sub use.

MTX is weak!!!! JBL is slightly better though. If you want a nice quality amp I would go with PPI, Soundstream, or the like. Don't be fooled by the high watts that they,MTX and JBL, claim to make. Look at the dbl to noise ratio. That will tell you a ton. PPIs all are 110 or better!
