Money no object = Macintosh, absolutely bullet proof! I've never owned, but have friends who do and won't shut the Phuk up about how awesome they are. I have heard and agree that they are sweet, but I think IMHO, they are beyond the point of diminishing return for the $$$
spendy but not OTT = a/d/s & Nakamichi, both are very solid, detailed, clean, and capable. I had an a/d/s amp in a preivios car and loved them, they were driving MBQ's. Now I have a pair of Nak's driving a/d/s speakers. For me it is the perfect combination. The amps are not colored at all, and the speakers offer absolute clarity without being bright like the MBQ's were.
ON a budget = Sony or Alpine, never owned them, but have heard only good things from others
Hope this helps,
Mark

I recommend Kicker or Rockford Fosgate for clarity for the dollar. MTX is coming up with some good stuff lately. As far as sub amps go, earthquake has some awesome powerhouses for the money. Small package yet huge power. I'd stay away from names like rockwood, sony(Xplod), Jensen, and Profile. Just my 3 cents- I work at circuit city in the car audio department.

XTant amps are my favorite. Pricey but amazing power and clarity. Only high end audio shops carry them.
98 SVTs Cobra and E1 mods? (YES)

1. McIntosh (Trapps, this amp is the best amp ever made!!, j/k) 2. a/d/s/, PPI, Xtant, Phoenix Gold 3. MTX, Soundstream, RF 4. too many to list.
The best amp is not always the most expensive amp. It depends a lot on the application.
