Has anybody heard anything bad about this turbos. The way they describe then sounds very convenient and more responsive by eliminatin the turbo lag and no extra oil lines to it. Here is the link: http://www.aerocharger.com/

Aerocharger is out of business. At least for turbos, they've gotten into a contract with some large manufactuer and have tooled up for that, no idea what they're making, and untill they finish with that they will not make turbo's anymore. Last I heard even their warranty department was closed.

Snakeoil. Isn't that just an E-Charger? It has never truly proven to be anything less than an intake obstruction. AFAIK

Tell that to the 100 or so people driving a Focus with an Aerocharger on it, a lot of them pushing 10psi and 200whp. There's even one guy running 9psi non-intercooled and has it mounted right under the stock intake manifold and he gets full boost by 2400rpms, he says he regularly passes Corvettes on the road course in his Focus. And this guy tuned the car with a Pectel, single handedly, and is one of the smartest guys on the Focus Forums. Granted it is such a weird little turbo that it's hard to grasp that it does work. It uses Variable Vane technology to give you a set boost and is electronically controlled to give you more boost, basically flip a switch for high and low boost settings. Though it is flow limited to a certain amount of boost and power. The Focus kit will only do 200whp max at 10 psi and if you try to boost it more it will over spin the turbo and destroy it. There was even a twin turbo kit with the Aerocharger for the NSX. The beauty of the Aerocharger is because it has it's own internal oil supply it can be mounted virtually in any possition.

That's pretty ignorant man.
The aerocharger is a fantastic little design, and works very very well; when it does work. They were pretty bad about having the variable vane system getting gummed up by carbon deposits, which basically amounts to a failed wastegate; resulting in either no boost, or way too much boost in the worst case.
It's a shame, as that issue seems to have kept the aerocharger from being in widespread use.

I am sorry for my ignorance. I hear so many quick-hit options here that I am fast to jump on them. I will read more on this "Aero-Charger" and form a more educated opinion. Why @10 PSI is the Focus only making 200fwhp? Shouldn't it be more like 230? Just a question? Stock they put down about 135 fwhp, right? Seems like with that much boost they should do better... In my, not so vast, knowledge, boost is boost regardless of source. The larger volume of intake air should produce similar results with any application... Right? I am not trying to split hairs so don't argue torque gains, as I understand the parasitic loss of some systems.

Too many other factors. Cams being the big one, compression, how much timing was pulled and the type of gas.
