At the new year I replaced my battery (it was 6 years old), my plugs and wires (they were original and overdue as well) as my tour wouldn't start w/o a boost.
The problem didn't go away, so I had the alternator replaced under extended warranty.
Since then I have had no problem starting even in the frigid cold of an Ottawa winter. That is until last week.
In the last week or so I have had 3 mornings that it wouldn't start.
When I turn the key everything sounds ok except it doesn't start. I go to boost it and it takes quite a while. Every so often it sounds like a tape recorder that has its power cut (low whir, then nothing). Eventually after a couple of minutes it starts.
For a couple of years now I have had an intermitant problem were when I turn the key I get a high pitched noise almost like a pneumatic tool sound (close to a grinding noise). Unfortunately, no service certre that the tour has been to can reproduce the problem.
I fear I may have a starter problem and would like to get it fixed before my extended coverage runs out in Sept.
I am worried that if don't get this problem sorted out before the warm weather I might miss my chance on getting it done no charge.
Anybody out there experienced this or has a suggested diagnosis?
Thanks
