My 2.0 Zetec Will not do over 70 mph on the highway, What could be causing excessive flow to the EGR Valve?

0-60 in 45 seconds.

If I floor the gas my engine studders.

Thanks

Not sure if there's any Duratec to Zetec issues, but I had the same code last summer. After cleaning my TB, I went from too little EGR flow to too much. My fix was to replace the DPFE sensor (like $50 at autozone) and that fixed my problem.

What year car?

How many miles on it?

Automatic or manual?

Is the check engine light on?
Get code read for free at Auto Zone & search for them here for more help.

Do the engine RPM stay really high the whole time you drive it?
Possible slipping tranny.

Does the engine not want to rev high at all (the RPMs stay low)?
Possible accelerator cable slipped, damaged, binding.

Any other symptoms such as surging or bucking?
Possible plugs & wires issues.

What does it sound like when you accelerate?

Sound boggy?
Possible plugged cat.

Is it less severe when your tank is full of fuel & worst when you're low on fuel?
Possible fuel delivery problem, filter or pump.

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

When was the last time you changed your air filter?

Have you replaced any parts recently?

Did you do anything unusual recently, like driving on a dusty road?

Have you tried cleaning the MAF sensor?

See if you can answer any of these questions to help us narrow your problem down - especially the check engine light codes. These should get us in the ballpark.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

i would think that the egr system would work in a similar way on both engines since they do the same thing...excessive flow at idle code means that the DPFE needs to be changed. I had a thread about this over this past summer, there is a way to test to see waht is bad and it is in that thread
