Guys,

I am going to replace the speakers in the doors. What sizes have worked the best for you all. I am probably looking at 6 1/2" comps in the front w/ 6 1/2 coax in the rear or possibly 6X9's in the rear(if they will fit).

Thanks

Everything from 5" drivers to 6x9s have been used in the rear doors. The rear doors will need minor modifications to accept a 6 x 9, though.

The components and coaxs would be a good start to a nice system, especially if you are planning on adding a sub at some point. For a very nice and cheap set of components, check out www.madisound.com and get the Vifas that are listed on the sale page. They compare very favorably with most 300-400.00 component sets.

If you aren't planning on a sub, you may want to try to squeeze the 6x9s in their for some bass.

I know that the stock speakers are 6x8s. I recomend putting in adapters to make them fit 5 1/4 round speakers, you get much better sound from a round speaker than a oval speaker. A Nice set of 5 1/4 MB Quarts would sooth your sound needs. Also you don't need to worry about the rear speakers if you are going to have some subs. The front speakers are what you should put your money into.

6x9's will fit in all four doors, you just have to drill new holes for the screws..,

It's a pain in the butt doing the rear doors unless you use the stock wiring. The rubber wire runs..you can't get IN to them. I thought..heh,cool...I'll just run the wires through HERE and....then i tried to get them IN there.....nope,no way no how. The ends are closed. And if you have a amp in the trunk, you have to run a wire from the stock wiring in front to the back...another pain. I did my whole system a few years back and the wire runs were the worst part. I think the next time I'm going to use a wire run that sits ON the carpet to the rear of the vehicle. Who cares if I see it....it's a damn site easier than trying to stuff amp wire,RCA cables, speaker wires, remote turn ons,etc etc. through and under the carpeting or in the door sill plates. And it would be easier to REMOVE once I decide to sell the vehicle. As it is,that crap is staying put!
