Here is the response i got from Stryke Audio about their woofers:
----------------------------------
Hello,
The price on the 12" PFPHN woofers is currently $179. Normally there is a $30 charge to get the DVC version. However the only VC versions available now are the dual 2ohm, so the extra charge is waved, and you will only pay the $179.
I do have one of them in stock right now. These woofers are typically being custom built when ordered, so if you needed more than one there would be about a week wait. I do also have one other of the 12" PFPHN woofers here that was installed for testing purposes. It has only been used for a short time, but I cannot sell it as new. I could sell that one for $159 if interested. Let me know what you'd like to do.

What do u think? I think the slightly used version sounds pretty appetizing.
Also I am debating if i should build my own box or just buy a premade one. Any pluses or minuses to either way other then the price?
Thanks in advance...
Matt

John is a very good guy and would trust him with whatever he recommends. If he says it's in good shape it will be. Sounds like a real good deal to me.
If you don't get it, let me know! :-)
Check with John for a recommended enclosure size/type for you car. I think 1.5 cubic sealed would be ideal, but he has more experience with the sub than i do.
I'm surprised he responded as quickly as he did. He is being overwhelmed with orders right now.

As far as the box goes, building it yourself is really the way to go if you have the tools to do it. You can make it customized to your car, you can put better bracing than a prefabbed box will offer. There are some good ones out there, though. I'll try to get the company name. It's on a another thread right now. www.sounddomain.com , maybe?? BTW, IF you go with a ported enclosure, definitely make it yourself unless you can find a sealed box with the exact volume you need for the sub. Then add your own port to the correct length. If you need help with the port diameter and length, let me know. Dave

Thanks for all the help, I'm pretty sure I am going to go with that "used" sub. But unfortunatelly I am running out of free time, so i think i will purchase a box for the sub, i can always fabricate something to keep it in place....

One more question, So if i order the 2ohm DVC, how would i wire the amp to it? Would i want to bridge it to mono, and if i did would that make it 1ohm? I'm getting very confused now ------------------ ************************** 2000 Silver Frost Clearcoat Metallic Contour SVT #1023/2150 2000 Phoenix Yellow ITR #484/750 (?) **************************

If I remember correctly, you have an amp that is stable into 1/2 ohm stereo, 1 ohm mono. So, to maximize the power to the sub, I would wire the voice coils in parallel. Meaning, connect the 2 positives together and the 2 negatives together on the speaker. This will basically make the speaker look like a 1 ohm VC to your amp. Now bridge your amp and connect the sub. Before you place your order though, let me make sure that your amp was in fact stable to a 1 0hm mono load.

I think I may have given you some bad advice. I just checked on the amp and it appears that it is actually stable to 2 ohms mono. That means that you will want to order the DVC 4 ohm version. Sorry for the confusion, I would have sworn that it said it was stable into 1/2 ohm.

it appears however that the woofer is only available in 2ohm version as per John's email. So i could run it in 2ohm stereo mode at 130W per channel, right?

Yes, if that's what the amp is rated at.
