If you have an SVT, then you have it. at least i think so...

Basically, to describe it wouldn't take to long...I wouldn't call it junk, but it's close. Far from premium.

It is possible to cheaply upgrade what you have though. A simple HU swap seems to give the most bang for the buck.

You can also add a powered sub with similar improvements.

I think the agreed upon order of improvements would be

1. Head Unit (200.00 will get you pretty good sound)
2. Subwoofer/amp
3. Replace 4 door speakers
4. multi channel amp
5. EQs, seperate crossovers, better wires, capacitors, etc...

I would get the door speakers replaced before getting subs. Some door speaker components can actually sound resonable being run off a good headunit. Getting another amp would be advisable before adding a sub.

With a good HU, and some inductors on the drivers to block the bass, the stock speakers can sound pretty good. That is why I advised the sub first. A pair of tweeters with a sub and the stock speakers and you'd be pretty well off.

Any one of the recommended upgrades will provide a substantial improvement over stock.

If your HU says ford on it then it's not a premium unit. Ford just buys Sony's leftover parts and glues them together with monkey crap. Then they shove a premium sticker on it. I would suggest you get a new deck before you do anything else to your car. The sound quality will skyrocket with even an Alpine CDM-7854 (around $300) and a more expensive deck, the sound qualiity goes even higher. I personally prefer quality sound over bass.
