As many of you have probably figured out, I tend to avoid brand name car audio stuff and stick with generally higher quality home audio stuff that also happens to be cheaper.

Well, I think I have stumbled on possibly the best subwoofer ever made. I thought I had with the woofers from Stryke. It was a 6000 watt monster that had limited availability to a group of is DIY types. Anyway, here is Aura's entry into the high end sub unit.

Not impressed, huh? If I could afford one, I would get it in a second.

Well, the model it replaced was 750.00. I could see this costing substantially more.

If it came in cheaper, i'd be surprised. If I had to guess, I would say that it'll be about 1000.00, have 56-60mm xmax, 100+ db sensitivity and 3000-6000 watt RMS power handling. but I guess we'll find out. THe problem is that it will probably require a huge box.

LittleFishie,

Thanks for your insightful comments, we all are looking forward to your next post...:-)

I found out some more info about the sub. It is actually aimed at competing in the car audio market. It is an 18" sub that will fit in a 1.5 cubic foot enclosure. It has a 44mm xmax and 3" point to point travel. 93 dB sensitivity and a Fs of 13 hz. It should produce pretty high levels of bass down to 4 or 5 hz in car. I originally thought that it would be aimed at the Professional audio market like their last sub was. I was way off on my predictions.

Thats a pretty impressive looking sub. How big is the voice coil? Do you have a model number? Thiele/Small params ?
