Time for a new alternator. I was able to rebuild the one that went bad on my wifes car but it was involved. Getting it out is not very easy but getting a shop to do it will be expensive. My wifes car was driven for at least a year with the light coming on in the upper rpms. So with that said Good Luck.

I got mine replaced at a shop. That top bolt was just too much of a challenge & I had other things to do. Be sure to get an alternator with a lifetime warranty on it. Labor was about $165, the alternator cost me $137 after the core charge was returned. Car runs smoother all around with the new alternator.

You'll get blinky lights when cold (at idle especially - effect is less pronounced when cruising, but still there) & dimming lights with a battery dash light when you rev over 4500.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Sounds like the voltage regulator is starting to fail.

If you are not comfortable with replacing the regulator and brushes yourself (~$60) then paying $150 for a lifetime reman'd is a good idea.
You also get all new bearings as well.

I have always had good luck with Worldwide products. I know Autozone carries that brand.

The battery light on my 99 SE Sport is now on solid whenever the car is running. I think the alternator is dead. The light used to flash whenever I was in the high rpms, now it's solid whenever, and the lights, which used to flicker at idle, stay solid.
