Upon learning that a former teammate said she was raped by a CU player, the head coach for CU stated this in reply: "Well, Katy was a girl. And not only was she a girl, she was terrible. She couldn't kick the ball through the uprights." So, because she is a girl and because she sucked, it's now ok to turn your head and let your F*ck-Off team members to rape her? I hope justice is served, and the player(s) and coaches BURN.

If she really was terrible, than I'd say he has every right to say she was terrible. I give the coach props for being honest. And why are you bringing up quotes about her performance, seeing as it has nothing to do with the rape?
As for the rape, all it's now is accusations, right?
Lemme guess, you're just *gasp* offended (we know how much I love that word) that he said she sucked.
Dunno what country you live in, but AFAIK, right now, it's innocent until proven guilty.
She's stupid for bringing this up 5 yrs after it happened anyway.

It is innocent until proven guilty, but as for the 5 year delay in opening up about this to the public. I assume you have never been close to anyone who had been raped, especially by someone they know and trusted. I was raped at 13 by someone I trusted and it wasn't until 10 years later and my marriage was on the verge of collapse that I was finally (with alot of professional help) able to say the word rape out loud let alone tell my husband and family what I had gone through. There are still only a few people that know the complete story on what I endured at the hands of this "trusted friend". Thank God I got the help I needed to stop blaming myself and understand that my marriage was on the rocks because I was pushing my husband away because I couldn't deal with what someone else had done to me, before I had even known my husband. Today we have an incrediably strong marriage and I'm really thankful that I was able to come to grips with what happened 20 years ago, there are still somethings that will bring back the old torment, but my husband knows the signs and knows how to help me through the darkness and back into the light! Don't judge her because it has taken so long to go public with this, just hope that the truth whatever that maybe comes to light and is dealt with the way it should be.

I think your situation is way different.
You were still a child, and she was what, 19? Totally different.
And why did she go public with this via a friggin Sports Illustrated article? Guess she's looking for her 15 minutes...

I must agree though... his comments were out of line, unprofessional, and just plain rude. I don't know if you read that or saw it on the news, but the soundbyte of it was angry and rather defensive.
She probably was terrible, but its absolutely unnecessary to slander a possible rape victim like that on national television. While it is innocent until proven guilty, I think everyone's known stuff like this has gone on for a long time, mostly with willing participants, but it had to get out of hand sometime, and I'm inclined to believe her.

If you're gonna use the quote, use it in context... (from ESPN.com story )
Asked why she left Colorado after the 1999 season, he said: "Katie was not only a girl, she was terrible. ... There's no other way to say it."
It doesn't excuse what was done (I think this whole thing is an embarassing mess and Barnett will be gone by the weekend), but at least use the correct quote and in the correct context. He didn't say she was terrible and that's why her alleged rape is OK, he said it when asked why she left the team and the school.

Rape happens everywhere. In certain areas of the country woman are still affraid to speak out. So when one comes out, they all start to come out. The sad part is the legitimate rapes are being belittle by girl claiming rape after regretful sex with guys while they are drunk. i.e. the guy that's being crusified by AA.
CU is shady all around with the strippers and now this.

The problem with America is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment
for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Claimants of rape or other crimes should be given a short amount of time to file charges, after which the alleged crime should be dismissed (Sorry Charlie, you're too late!). There is a statute of limitations on time allowed for criminal charges, but I don't know if it applies to civil suits. IMO, waiting several years should disqualify the accusations since any real evidence is lost and memories become fuzzy. Credibilty is also suspect, as in this case where the girl seems to be trying to "cash in" on the ongoing inevestigations against the University of Colorado. Barnett was probably angry at the whole mess going on and wanted to vent some of his frustrations. Indeed, Hnida was probably forced upon him to appease the university's liberals and feminists. There were probably many men more qualified to do the job, but the girl was chosen as a publicity stunt. Kicking field goals is not entirely difficult, even in a college football game!

She was invited to walk-on by the previous coach, Neuheisel. Purportedly, the verbal and mental abuse began the very first day that Barnett took over as coach.
