Specifically, is it going to be worth paying 80$ for one or should I just cough up 200 for a new pioneer. How much better is the sound quality than a stock cd player?
also, My car is a 98 SVT E0 and how can i tell if it is premium sound or not? (it is a tape player)

Someone should pay you $80 to buy their factory HU, IMO.

I say any Pioneer is a better HU for everything except tuner. Put I don't listen to radio, so I have no love for that peice of crap factory HU.

Throw the amp away too. It can only sound better even with the factory speakers.

Buy any respectable brand name for 200.00 and you'llbe surprised how much better you system will be.

Plus your antenna will go down when your listening to a Cd and not stay up like the stock ford radio. Most aftermarket radios have this feature or you can install a switch.

I agree with dnewma04. $200 can get you a decent head unit -- one from a reputable brand name -- that sounds good, looks great, and outperforms (in terms of power, frequency response, radio reception, security, and "bells and whistles") the factory head unit by a mile.

Do not buy the Premium HU. It is a piece of crap. It is a sony (take the cd player apart and look) but it's not sony's best equipment, in fact it wouldn't compare well to the crap Wal-Mart sells. AVOID! Go buy a $300 Alpine deck, you won't regrat it. Your stock speaker will sound better and your cds wont skip every time you cough. My $.02.

They are great.
