OP kevichri Newbie K Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 4	Been having problems with my '99 SE Duratec 5-spd Contour for the past year or so; severe loss of power below about 4-5k RPM, and gas mileage is regularly about 19-20 MPG in town when a year and a half ago I got 24-25. Recently had the following done: - New plugs and wires - New fuel filter - New air filter - Fuel injectors cleaned No CEL and a recent trip to Autozone confirmed no OBD-II codes were present. For about two years I had the SCA cold air intake installed, the one that puts the filter RIGHT near the road. Makes me think the problem may lie in a fouled/broken MAF, although the two wires show no sign of grunge or build-up. Maybe a bad O2 that hasn't thrown a light yet. Any suggestions? Also, when I really get on the gas above 5-6k, my battery light will come on intermittently, then go out as soon as I drop below 5-6k. This seems to be unrelated to the gas mileage/power problem, but I'm not quite sure.

If they aren't the car will act sluggish below 3800 RPM. Here's a link that talks about secondaries. Read Up "Fear is the little death." Muadib.
