The last time my wife and I made a trip to the Maritimes, we stopped at a restaurant for lunch. I couldn't resist asking the waitress,

"If Canada has gone metric, how come you still offer a 9-inch pizza and a quarter-pound burger?"

She just smiled nervously and walked away.

You suppose you'll go all metric and have so-many mm/cm pizzas and other stuff someday?

True...but that means "other" items will have to be metric.

Now try putting metric in, say, a Personal Ad. You'd think the person (male or female) would be a freak

I know my weight in LBS not Kilos.
I know how tall I'am in FT not Cm.

Will we ever go all the way?
Nope!!
As long as we border on the USA and they don't go metric.

I know what you mean. Some of the road signs here have distances in miles and kilometers. We've had 2 and 1 liter soda bottles for quite awhile. No one wants to see the temperature in metric in the wintertime. I do remember my trip to Nova Scotia back in 1979. Everyone acted like some elves had come out in the middle of the night and changed all the signs. One of the recent shipbuilding contracts that the company I work for, required all of the design to be in metric.

I guess it all takes time.

When I was a mechanical designer, All our stuff for the US was in imperial, but Canada and the rest of the world was metric.

It depends, but if some has imperial measurement as its proper name, it would be silly to change that. A footlong is still a footlong.

One thing I did notice is that when we went metric, a case of beer became a 24. (LOL! just kidding)
