More parts for zetec but even with big bux a N/A zetec will be hard pressed to outperform a Duratec with bolt ons.. One guy spent $5000 IIRC to get a British Zetec to 165 FWHP N/A...same as a stock SVT Duratec.

I wouldn't go that far...if you spend your money the right way, that space between duratec power and zetec power closes considerably

I personally would be pissed at myself spending 5G's for 165whp, thats a rip off if you ask me as you could have easily had a turbo setup for that price.

Mine stock was about .3 sec slower than atx V6's in ¼ mile. The stock Zetec atx can't brake 16's I believe, yet.

I ran a 16.9.....but not stock.

Let the flaming begin.

I really can't comment directly on that, since I've only driven Duratecs, but I can attest to the difference between a non-SVT Duratec w/ ATX and an SVT w/ MTX. The butt dyno shows a noticeable difference.

At the track back in August for the national meet, a non-SVT Duratec w/ MTX ran about 2-3 seconds faster than a Zetec w/ ATX in the quarter mile. However, I'm sure the tranny accounted for a good part of that difference, so its not really a fair comparison. Plus, the Zetec was Hector's, and I think he was having some timing issues at the time.

Still having timing issues.....getting that fixed soon....we will need to go to the track.

95 Mystique Duratec MTX - Water pump blew at 150K my parents noticed it and got off the road and to a shop. Car worked fine for another 10K until my brother got in a accident with it.

The 96 Zetec had many more issues during it's life than the 95 Duratec.

Sounds more like your brother just needs to quit driving them rather than they're unreliable.

I have a zetec.
I once raced a cougar with the 2.5 duratec. He could even keep up. I don't know if it was b\c he is atx and i am mtx, or weight, or what, but he was pissed.
The cougar was a loner thought. He had a 98.5 csvt that kicked my ass.

My 99SE ATX can't keep up with a LoCoZ modded ATX Zetec. But my 95 SE MTX has no problem at all. The mtx always helps, its makes the zetec put down damn near the same numbers at the Duratec with an ATX.

speaking of 18s (thread hijack in progress)

one time at the track, there was this dude, i know him from gradeschool but ahvent seen him in years. he was always full of BS, more so than anyone i know, and acts like a total hardass

well he had a cavalier, with lots of vynil, nasty chrome rims, the worst intake EVER (went over top of engine and filter sat right above exhaust manifold IIRC), and a system.

i remember sitting in the staging lanes and seen him run 18.5s, i started laughing so hard i almost couldnt race!!
