um dont all contours come with a trunk opener? its the little lever down by your left foot... i think you should rig up the passenger headrest with it and hit the button to whack passengers in the back of the head with the headrest!

Is this aftermarket or a Ford package part no.?
F8RZ-63431B04-AA is supposed to be a spring popper, however it's one of those "round-to-its" that hasn't happened, yet.

Yea, I've put one of those in. It was in my dad's '97 Corolla. No, you don't need to drill any holes except for maybe running wires. The part on the solenoid that has the bolts wraps around one of your trunk frames, and then you tighten down the bolts. Then find a place on the latch to hook up the metal cable too. Give it just a touch of slack so it doesn't pop your trunk with every bounce of the car. There's should be a little nut looking thing that has a hex screw in it. Thread the metal cable through it and tighten then hex. Oh yea, and don't use that little 3 way wire tapper thing. They're the crappiest thing that anyone has ever invented. Typically, they'll work for a while, and then they'll start to corrode, or just break all together.
Hope that helps!

but if you pop it open, won't it just slam back shut? Our hoods don't have "pop up" capabliltiy. My wife's Honda's hood pops up when you pull the lever.
Mine just stays down, sometimes I've driven with it unlatched...

Well, mine does that yes, but if you just walk up you can lift it up. Or there's a trunk popper deal that some people have installed. Hope that helps.

i have that, but im going to cut that wire. i just installed a remote starter/alarm this week myself and i want to hook it up to my remote ONLY (besides the key). so if my car does get broken into, they aint stealing my $1k system...

Well i took out the black plastic piece where the trunk latch is, theres metal all around it. im assuming i need to cut a hole and put it inside that.

That helps quite a bit, i was wondering what i could do so it stays poped open instead of hoping its open. lol.
Now i just gotta figure out how im going to mount it. cutting the metal will suck.

Most of the problems with wire taps are due to the following:
1)It is important to use the correct one. Blue 14-16 gauge, Red 18-20 gauge. It can be hard to tell what the wire gauge that you are tapping into is.
2)There are cheap ones out there. Get ones that are UL/CSA listed like the 3M ones Wal-Mart sells and it'll be good. If it is of a design that will corrode (in dry conditions) or fall apart, it won't get UL approval.
If you must use one of these in a place where it will get wet, putting some silicone dielectric grease into it before installing it will prevent corrosion.

personally i wont use wire taps. they expand and contract then get loose and give problems. best way to to do it splice into the wire, then tape it w/ 3m electrical and put a zip tie on it. i do it all day at work installing car starters. T-taps suck.
