I was wondering if you can use the factry amp w/ a new deck. Im new to the whole sound upgrade thing, so all help is needed. I have the factory sound system installed right now on my SVT. Although I did replace the speakers w/ Pioneers

I don't think it would be a good idea. You would be keeping the weakest link in the factory system. Any high-power deck from Sony, Clarion, Alpine, Pioneer, and Nakamichi will sound better by bypassing the stock amp.

Well, then can you add another amp to the factory deck. I like the way the factory system looks, and I dont want to worry about theft

I'm running an Eclipse 5303 head unit with everything else stock in my SVT 'tour. The sound improved by 100%. All the amps and speakers are factory. The 5303 has no preamp, so all the power is from the stock amp(s).

Good luck getting any sort of answer to this question. I have tried several times to get an answer to this, but the only suggestions I ever get are to upgrade my HU. I don't believe anyone has ever sucessfully done this. Personally, I tried, but I'm not sure what type of output the factory HU is giving. It's not a "normal" pre-amp out. When I was testing, I tripped my amp on the known correct wires several times. I also blew 2 factory speakers (no big loss ). So, unless anyone can give you accurate information on the wiring outputs on the factory HU, I don't recommend this configuration. I can, however, give you most of the wiring schematic if you need it. I just don't know what type of connection is between HU and amp. Hope this is useful.

You could always buy the adapters that convert speaker level outputs to low level RCA outputs. I believe in order to do this, you will need to do it after the factory amp. I guess the only problem you will encounter is that you would only be amplifying the weaknesses of the factory amp. It would give you better dynamic range, but the THD would be basically equal to the factory amp.

I don't think there is a harness to convert the signal from the HU to an RCA, but it would be nice.
