I got into my car yesterday and noticed a new whine. Not alternator noise/ ground loop (already fixed that problem), but a whine influenced by the heater/AC function. It only makes the sound if the air in on the highest, and second highest setting. The only thing I've changed about my system lately is adding a second sub and amp. I have two 1 farad caps, and tomorrow my HU will be sending a 5 volt signal to my amps (2.2 V currently). So, any suggestions? The sound is a high pitched buzzing sound, almost like a dustbuster. It gets higher in pitch when I turn the air to highest setting. It comes from all speakers, except subs, Wierd... Thanks in advance for any help you can give...

sounds like a grounding problem somewhere.. I would check all the wires again, maybe something came loose with the install of the second sub and amp. And your not going to hear a high pitch coming through a sub but if it could play a high pitch I betcha it would....

Hey Buddy, Its not a ground, but it wouldn't hurt to ground all of your grounds again, especially since you have two amps now. When making the new grounds, make sure you scratcha small area of the paint off to insure a good ground. What the problem is, is that when you pulled your head unit out, to run the new RCA's, naturally you pulled all the harnesses out just a little bit to have a little room to access the RCA's. But the real problem was when you reinstalled the radio you must have shoved the wires in too close to the AC wires. I suggest you pull out the radio, use a whole bunch of electrical tape and tape up all the radio wires individually, the together, and shove them as far down underneath the radio. If that does not work, tape the AC harness. I hope that works!!!! ------------------ 1998 Red SVT Contour, adding mods daily, bought 10/16/00!!! I'll check all of the wires behind the HU, I haven't removed it lately, but when I put the new one in I'll be sure to isolate the RCA's from the heater stuff. I'll check all my grounds, but I've had ground noise, and this is different, it's a little lower in pitch, and it has a fuzzy sound to it. Thanks for the help. I'll keep you all informed.
