Looking into options that don't involve parting out or trading in my ever so mechanically failing beast. (So maybe I just tell the woman that ticking is bad... who always changes their oil on time anyway?)

I was just wondering if it's worth the subframe swap and complete changeover. I'd really like to avoid going over $2Gs.

*NOTE* I am by no way shape or form mechanically inclined. I like to tinker, but for that, the big boys can play with the installs.

Not spend over $2k total? You'll spend that with just a normal 3L install into a 2.5L equipped contour, especially if paying someone else to do it. It will be MUCH cheaper just to buy a contour that already has a duratec then do the swap.

no mods at all and you have a hybrid se good for about 200 p on stock stuff for 1300, that gives you 700 to find someoen to install it. Dont bother even attempting a zetec/3.0 swap.. many vastly educated people ont eh board would even screw with it

HA! $500?!?! I wish! At least, not around here. Seems every one with a blown motor I hear about is over on the east coast and $600-$900. What are you east coasters doing to these cars over there anyway???

You see, this car is fairly modified for audio, and getting there for show. I don't want to move my MP3 computer system to another car is the reason that I'm wanting a subframe changeout. I have a junkyard that will cut the whole front end off a car for $300. But the motor/trans will run me another $300-$500 if I want it. Kind of a frequent customer club I guess LOL.

Whats so bad about doing the 2.0 to 3.0 swap? I hope to start mine in Mid July after I get the 2.5L subframe and ATX, I already have my motor.

Different wiring harness, altogether different ECU (and probably different shift points with the ATX)...who knows, the radiator and coolant reservoir may be of different capacity.

I just don't think you're saving any money here.

Having fun, what else? The shop called an hour ago to tell me the third Duratec is in and running I got the one-year warranty on this motor, I hope I don't need it.
