I second that! There is very little relation to pre-out volage and amplifier temperature.
Noise cancelation is the goal in having 4V+ pre-out. Most Balanced Line systems have even higher signal voltages, the end results in a higher Signal-To-Noise Ratio. This give you more, and clearer transients from your softest note to your loudest musical note.
