Just wondering what everyone thinks of this filter. Is it too big, just right, etc.? Thanks.

Actually posting the full part number or the dimensions would help you get an answer quicker.

9" in length. (plus 1.75" flange)

That's far too big to fit.

Why not just use the RU-3530 that is an optimum size for a 2.5L and fits easily in the space available.

Actually, a 9" filter will fit IF you have a short intake pipe and a Pro-Flow with no flange on it. I am currently using a RE-0920 with a CTA intake pipe and Pro-Flow 75mm MAF. The 0920 is actually a little bit larger than the 3690, so the 3690 would definitely fit under these conditions.

EDIT: I am not debating whether this size filter is more or less optimal for performance. I am only stating that it will fit.

Actually,it fits with about an inch of clearance. This is with the factory accordian tube, flanged Pro-flow, and SHO Shop heatshield.

Wow that has to be a tight squeeze!
I bet the stock POS accordian tube is squished down to about 50mm I.D.

Either way you still have Far too much filter for a small 2.5L engine.

You are getting less airflow, air straightening and velocity compared to an optimum sized filter.
There have even been dyno tests proving this before.

Running an oversized filter can actually hurt perfromance.

Good point, anyone want to buy an RC-3690?

Would the KKM filter (came with the KKM induction kit) be too big a filter? I just read the post about them imploding, so should I be getting the RU3530 K&N?
Sorry if this has been discussed a million times b4.

The RU-3530 is the way to go.
